Drug and Alcohol Testing
As part of their company occupational health and safety policy, employers often seek the right to randomly test employees to reduce the occurrence of alcohol and drug-affected employees in the workplace. As approximately 15% of workplace injuries worldwide are attributable to drug and alcohol use, drug and alcohol testing is part of a robust workplace wellbeing management program and is a must for all Australian businesses.
BeWorkFit Mackay practitioners are fully trained to all relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards and have national accreditation for drug and alcohol testing. Our clinic is uniquely equipped to fulfill all requirements stipulated by your company’s drug and alcohol policies and procedures. We offer:
- Urine testing cup for the following drugs: THC / COC / AMP / METH / OPI / BZO
- Saliva test for the following drugs: THC / COC / AMP / METH / OPI / BZO
- MRO services
- Onsite drug and alcohol testing
- Alcolizer Breathalyser
For our drug and alcohol testing services, we can provide you with a Registered Medical Review Officer (MRO), who is a licensed physician (M.D.) with training in substance abuse. Using a MRO helps to protect both the employer and their employees. Though an MRO is not always required, their services constitute an important part of an effective drug testing program.
The urine testing cup BeWorkFit Mackay uses is commonly used by laboratories, government agencies and corporations across Australia. It guarantees results in one to two minutes and is accurate and verified to the Australian Standard AS 4308:2008. The saliva test is renowned for its ease of application, accuracy, and quick results. Less invasive than urine testing, the saliva test is verified to Australian Standard AS 4308:2008.
What to expect at your Drug and Alcohol Testing appointment
A standard drug and alcohol test takes between 5-10 minutes to complete. You will need to provide a urine or saliva sample and bring photo identification such as a driver’s licence, passport or proof of age card to the appointment.
Your drug tester will then gauge the temperature of the sample and check if any alterations have been made. The test will identify and measure the levels of creatinine, nitrites, bleach, pH and specific gravity present in the sample.
