Mine Rescue Medical

Mine rescue operations are among the most physically and mentally demanding roles in the mining industry. Working in extreme environments—often with poor ventilation, high temperatures, and toxic atmospheres—requires a high level of fitness and medical resilience.

At BeWorkFit, we provide comprehensive Mine Rescue Medicals for Queensland Coal Mines Rescue Service personnel, ensuring each individual is fit for duty under these challenging conditions.

These medicals go beyond a standard Coal Board Medical. They’re designed to assess whether someone has the physical capability and health stability required to safely undertake rescue operations.

What’s Included in a Mine Rescue Medical?

  • Detailed medical examination (Part A) using the Coal Mine Workers’ Health Scheme form, applying stricter criteria

  • Physical fitness assessment (Part B) using the VO2 max step test

  • ECG (for individuals aged 35 and over)

  • Blood tests (must meet specific thresholds)

  • Personal physical fitness testing

How Often Is the Assessment Required?

  • Every 2 years for personnel under 40

  • Annually for personnel aged 40 and over

Our team at BeWorkFit is experienced in conducting these assessments to the highest standards, helping ensure that all mine rescue workers are equipped—physically and medically—for the demands of the role.
