Commercial Vehicle & Dangerous Goods Driver Medicals

Ensuring your commercial drivers are medically fit for duty is critical—not only for compliance but for the safety of your team and the broader community.

At BeWorkFit, we provide Commercial Vehicle and Dangerous Goods driver medicals in line with the Austroads "Assessing Fitness to Drive" national medical standards (updated March 2016). Our team is well-versed in these guidelines and conducts all assessments with precision, consistency, and care.

Why These Assessments Matter

Driving a heavy vehicle or transporting dangerous goods requires sound physical and cognitive function. Our assessments are designed to ensure that drivers:

  • Are free from any medical conditions that could impair safe driving

  • Have adequate visual, physical, and cognitive abilities

  • Can meet the physical demands of long-distance or high-risk driving

Where applicable, we also conduct cardiac risk assessments to evaluate heart health and endurance under driving conditions.

What the Assessment Covers

  • Vision, hearing, and neurological checks

  • Blood pressure and cardiovascular health

  • Diabetes and medication management

  • Mental health and cognitive function

  • Response time and motor skills relevant to driving

At the conclusion of the assessment, the driver receives an official Medical Certificate for Motor Vehicle Driver, ready for submission to the Queensland Department of Transport.

Common Conditions That May Impact Fitness to Drive

  • Diabetes

  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)

  • Heart disease

  • Epilepsy

  • Vision or hearing impairments

  • Medication or alcohol-related concerns

Our goal is to help employers meet compliance requirements while keeping drivers and the community safe.
